Flu campaign continues at UBSs

Jundiaí continues with the vaccination campaign against Influenza (flu) for the population from six months of age. The doses are available, during the week, in all Basic Health Units (UBSs), New UBSs and Family Clinics, during the opening hours of the vaccination rooms of each equipment.
“It is essential that people, especially those in the priority group, such as children, the elderly and pregnant women, look for the vaccine. We are in a period in which the circulation of respiratory viruses increases and the vaccine helps to reduce the chances of worsening Influenza. We still register low demand”, warns the coordinator of Epidemiological Surveillance, an entity of the Health Promotion Management Unit (UGPS), nurse Maria do Carmo Possidente.
Since the start of the campaign, on March 25, only 29.78% of the priority public has been vaccinated in the city, representing around 46.8 thousand people out of the 167 thousand planned. Of this total, 28,762 are elderly people over 60 years old (which is equivalent to 35.69% of the 80,581 estimated in this age group) and 3,884 are children aged 6 months to under 6 years old (15.08%). The goal is to reach 90% of each group.
The vaccine is updated annually so that the dose is effective in protecting against strains of the main viruses circulating in Brazil. The dose against Influenza can be applied together with any vaccine from the National Immunization Program (PNI).
