A man, about 30 years old, was killed in the early hours of yesterday, on the terrace of a bar, near the center of Santarém. Hugo Pereira was stabbed in the neck and did not survive the wounds.
The alert for the aggression was given around 0.17 am, according to the Santarém Relief Operations Center (CDOS).
The victim, who was nicknamed “Biri”, was with a group of friends on the esplanade of the R25 bar, in Jardim da República, near the former Cavalry Practical School, when he was approached by a man, who hit him a few times in the neck, fleeing immediately.
The esplanade was full and soon some customers provided first aid to the victim, until the arrival of the Firefighters Sapadores de Santarém.
Hugo Pereira was transported to the local hospital, but he could not resist the severity of his injuries and died there.
Given the inexistence of any confrontation on the esplanade between the victim and the aggressor, everything points to the crime having been a settling of accounts, in circumstances that will be investigated by the Judiciary Police, which, yesterday morning, carried out steps and collected the first indications at bar R25.
Were together in prison
The victim and the aggressor, who lives on the outskirts of the city, have known each other for a few years and have even served a prison sentence together, having been released this year.
Hugo Pereira had minor children and, on social media, the mother expressed her pain. “My son, I love you so much. You left for another world, you left your friends, children and family. I love you so much son,” he wrote.
The PSP was also at the scene, preserving the crime scene.
