Two men, aged 39 and 27, with dual Swedish and Syrian nationality, were detained by the Setúbal Judiciary Police (PJ) on suspicion of being responsible for the death of model Tiago Danu, stabbed to death in a car park in Setúbal.

The young man was reportedly killed when he was trying to save a friend, who was being pressured by the pair of assassins to denounce a third individual, who allegedly stole an ATM card from the pair.

The two suspects allegedly showed a photograph of the person who stole the card to Tiago Danu’s friend, and threatened him with kidnapping if they did not reveal the individual’s whereabouts. Not getting the information they were looking for, the duo took Tiago’s friend into the car of one of the suspects and it was at this point that the model intervened and ended up being stabbed.

One of the suspects fled to Sweden, where he is now being held for other crimes, and has not yet been extradited to Portugal. The second man will be present at the Setúbal court this Friday and is responsible for qualified homicide and kidnapping.

The pair were deemed highly dangerous and special security was required in court.
