Generalista won over SIC for the first time in five years, while the information channel cements itself as the most watched on cable

It was the best way to celebrate the birthday. TVI won the month of February and confirmed its audience leadership in Portugal, winning both in number of days and in the global average.

“Whether during the mornings and afternoons, or during prime time, TVI led, the same happening in relation to the main target audiences”, informs the television station in a statement, in which it claims to be the “biggest meeting point in the world”. country”, bringing together everyone from the youngest to the oldest, from North to South.

TVI’s general director, José Eduardo Moniz, highlights these results as representing “recognition from viewers for the effort, dedication, creativity and competence of those who work for the station every day”.

The director of Entertainment and Fiction, Cristina Ferreira, states that “the numbers reflect the focus, persistence and capacity of a team that works hard every day to make TVI once again the great reference of Portuguese television, in all areas”.

Success in entertainment but also in information. “The station is taking safe steps in all areas. In Journalism we have sought to affirm TVI as a reference of credibility, but also as the Information brand that stands alongside citizens, questioning and monitoring all powers”, points out the director of information for the channel, Nuno Santos.

Furthermore, the victory in Information extends to the Cape. CNN Portugal continues to be the information channel of choice – it has been this way since the channel was launched, and the extensive coverage of international conflicts, particularly the war in Ukraine, has contributed to this leadership – which is cemented in a period of full election campaign.

This victory for TVI represents a break in a cycle of leadership for SIC, which was at the helm for five years. The renewed dynamics of TVI’s Fiction and Entertainment and the growth of Information were decisive factors for TVI’s affirmation as the station of choice with a 15.6% share, an advantage of 0.6 percentage points in relation to SIC.

One of the highlights goes to “Cacau”, a national production that stands out as the Portuguese’s favorite soap opera.

But there are also victories on Sunday night. “Big Brother Desafio Final” has taken the reality experience “to a new level”. The galas dominate the Sunday evenings with 920 thousand spectators, while the “Special” leads in prime time from Monday to Friday. In parallel, “Última Hora” and “Extra” also lead in their schedules.

As for Information, it continues to grow. “Jornal Nacional” records the best numbers in the last five years, having consistently surpassed its main competitors. This in a month in which the country entered the decisive phase for the elections on March 10, with TVI launching a series of content linked to politics, namely the Tracking Poll and the section “The Elect”.

The same goes for CNN Portugal, which has these same headings, but also an extended commentary space, either by “Consultadores”, with Luís Paixão Martins and Rui Calafate, or by “Zoom”, with Miguel Sousa Tavares and Mafalda Anjos, in addition to other informative and opinion spaces.

“Viewers find TVI the best company for their day-to-day life. In addition to the programs already mentioned, ‘Dança com as Estrelas’, ‘Festa é Festa’, ‘Dois à 10’ and ‘Em Família’, they lead in their schedules”, says the channel.

In the eighth consecutive month in which the TVI channel group (four channels) wins, TVI Ficção also stands out, which records an excellent result, and TVI Reality appears in the top 10 of pay television in Portugal.
