Benfica and FC Porto will pay 8625 euros to the Municipality of Aveiro for damage caused in the Super Cup game – Futebol Nacional

The Super Cup game, between Benfica and FC Porto, was played at the beginning of August, but the clubs have now been informed that they will still have to pay the Municipality of Aveiro for the damage caused by fans of both teams at the Municipal Stadium in that city. . According to the FPF Disciplinary Council, the Aveiro City Council coffers will receive 8625 euros, with the largest portion of this amount being paid by the dragons: 5150 euros. The Eagles will have to pay 3475 euros. This decision is due to the chairs that were damaged in the duel that the Eagles ended up winning, 2-0, some of them ended up thrown onto the playing field, as can be seen in the final ruling. “Benfica fans, who occupied the north wing of the Aveiro Municipal Stadium, which was exclusively reserved for them, damaged: 97 seats in the 2nd ring (north), seats A10 to A17, and 42 seats” in the 1st ring (north), places B9 to B13. And, on the other hand, ‘the FC Porto fans who occupied the south wing of the Aveiro Municipal Stadium, which was exclusively reserved for them, damaged: 191 seats in the 2nd ring (south), seats A27 to A34, and 9 chairs in the 1st ring (south), places B22 to B26″, it can be read, where it is added that “the Benfica fans, who occupied the north stands, threw some of these chairs onto the playing field”.

In view of this, both clubs were blamed, due to the incorrect behavior of their fans, for damage “caused to public property that must be repaired”, in addition to putting “at risk everyone present at the sporting event who, eventually, could be hit , and seriously injured, by thrown chairs”. In this way, and after having defended themselves, the clubs were notified that they will have to pay “a fine corresponding to 1020 euros and compensation in favor of the Aveiro City Council in the amount of €3475 and condemn FC Porto to a fine of 1020 euros and compensation in favor of Aveiro City Council in the amount of 5150 euros.
