According to the local mayor, Luís Nobre, three companies were submitted to the canceled tender, “one of which exceeded the base price and two presented non-conformities”, so the jury decided to revoke it.
The opening of the new procedure was approved by the executive by a majority, with an increase of 270 thousand euros to the base value of the work, which goes from around 9.074 million euros to 9.344 million.
The construction of the access, measuring more than five kilometers, has as its main objective to benefit mobility within the industrial activity of Viana do Castelo. This is an operation 100% financed under the PRR.
This step back in the process will, according to Luís Nobre, shorten the execution period of the work, from “18 to 14 months”.
“I want to have work [no terreno] in three, four months”, said the mayor of Viana, noting that it is his desire that the project begin, after approval from the Court of Auditors, at the latest next August, to be completed by the end of 2025. He also indicated that the construction of the new bridge over the Lima River could begin “before” access. This Thursday is the deadline for submitting the international tender to award the contract, budgeted at 23 million euros.
