On March 12th, the regional session of the Secondary Education Youth Parliament took place in the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

Throughout the day, students from several secondary schools in the Region played the role of deputies, in what is the Madeira House of Democracy. In the year in which the fifty years of April 25th are celebrated, the topic under debate was “Living April in education: paths to a plural and participatory school”.

The opening session was attended by the President of the Legislative Assembly, José Manuel Rodrigues, as well as the Secretary of Inclusion and Youth, Ana Maria Freitas. The Deputy of the Assembly of the Republic Dinis Ramos was also present at this session, who answered questions posed by young deputies from the various schools.

After the presentation of the Recommendation Projects and the general debate, the deputies proceeded to vote on them, with a view to electing the Madeira Electoral Constituency Project to be presented at the national session, which will take place in the Assembly of the Republic, next May. . Then, and after the debate in the specialty, the deputies who represented the Jaime Moniz Secondary School, together with the deputies from the Francisco Franco Secondary School, were elected to represent the Madeira Electoral Circle in the national session.
