The Viseu District Command of the PSP informs that, this Sunday, March 17th, the Viriatos Race 2024 will take place in the city of Viseu, which includes a running and a walking test.

In order to guarantee the safety of participants and other road users, this Police will block/condition traffic, between 8:30 am and 12:00 pm, on the following arteries:

  • Av. Capitão Homem Ribeiro;
  • Av. Dr. António José de Almeida;
  • Av. Major Leopoldo da Silva;
  • Rua 21 de Agosto;
  • D. João I Square (just for the tour)
  • Av. Alberto Sampaio;
  • Rossio Rotunda;
  • Rua da Vitória;
  • Street of Combatants of the Great War;
  • Rua Dr. Luiz Ferreira;
  • D. Duarte Square;
  • Rua D. Duarte;
  • Right Street;
  • Rua Formosa;
  • Largo Santa Cristina (just for the walk);
  • Av. Capitão Silva Pereira;
  • Santo António Rotunda;
  • Av. Emídio Navarro;
  • Coval Street;
  • Coval Rotunda;
  • Av. José Matos;
  • Quinta Agrária Rotunda;
  • Roundabout of the Weekly Fair;
  • Av. Académico de Viseu;
  • Fontelo Rotunda;
  • Av. Ensign Maldonado;
  • Rotunda 5 de Outubro;
  • Av. João Luís Inês Vaz;
  • Nelas Rotunda;
  • Av. Engenheiro Nobre da Costa;
  • Paul VI Rotunda;
  • Avenida RI 14;
  • Rotunda Combatentes do Ultramar.

Access will be permitted, albeit in a highly restricted manner, at the Rossio roundabout, for residents within the race circuit, as well as for people wishing to access the Cathedral.

The city center area and the ring road (between the Coval roundabout and the Paulo VI roundabout) will be heavily affected, so the PSP advises you to avoid traveling on the aforementioned arteries, between 08:30 and 12:00 on the day of the race (March 17th). 2024), in order to avoid long traffic queues and long waiting periods. After 12pm, road traffic will return to normal.

You can also use the WAZE application (@wazeportugal) to travel around the city, as traffic restrictions will be introduced in this application.
