In their eight albums released over the last 25 years, the group has specialized in balancing introspective lyrics, which deal with themes such as pain, loneliness, overcoming and resilience, with a vigorous instrumental, with guitars in the foreground and screamed vocals.
From what we saw at Summer Breeze, the formula has worked: the sea of t-shirts printed with the band’s covers circulating around the festival was already eagerly awaiting the group’s performance even before the previous band, Avatar, left the Hot Stage. And they knew how, in their own way, to meet expectations.
With little talk and a lot of action, vocalist Jesse Leach put his vocal chords to work almost uninterruptedly, starting with “The Curse”, from the album “As Daylight Dies” (2006).
At once, the band released the songs “A Bid Farewell”, from the album “The End of Heartache” (2004), “Beyond the Flames”, from “Disarm the Descent” (2013), “The Signal Fire” and “Unleashed”, both from “Atonement” (2019) and “Hate by Design” from the album “Incarnate” (2016).
In more than one moment, Leach came down to sing and take selfies with the fans, showing the synergy present between band and audience. Another figure present, guitarist and backing vocalist Adam D. asked for the opening of new punk circles — which was promptly granted.
