Does this video portray the conditions of a “Bolt waiting room in Lisbon” where the platform’s “drivers” are received?

-

A user of the social network Facebook shared a video that allegedly portrays the conditions of a “Waiting room of Bolt in Lisbon”, in a place where “drivers” who work for the company in Portugal would be received.

In the images you can see what appears to be the entrance to a building in Lisbon – as evidenced by a rubbish bin with the Coat of Arms of Lisbon, which appears prominently. However, the degradation conditions and the unsanitary condition of the building are very evident, which leads the author of this publication to consider that the reported situation is a “shame”.

In the comments of this postthe same user maintained that the video had, in fact, been captured in Lisbon – more specifically, in “Avenida D. João V 30B”, an address that would be “near” a space “owned by Uber”, a competing company.

It is confirmed that these images depict, in a reliable waythe conditions under which Bolt receives drivers at its service space in Lisbon?

Through reverse search, using Google tools, we did not find the origin of the video. However, using the “Google Maps” application, it appears that the images referring to this alleged “Bolt waiting room in Lisbon” were not captured at the mentioned address. In the Lisbon Metropolitan Area there is only one Avenida D. João V and it is in the municipality of Amadora, where the buildings, particularly number 30, are not painted pink, as can be seen in the video under analysis.

However, there is a Greenlight Hub from Uber in Dom João V Street, more specifically at number 24, where the company provides “face-to-face support exclusively by appointment”. And it is precisely on this street – more specifically at number 30B -, in the Amoreiras area, that Bolt’s service space in Lisbon is also located, an official company source confirmed to Polígrafo.

Asked about this matter, Mário de Morais, responsible for Ride-hailing of Bolt in Portugal, left the following guarantee: “The video in question does not refer to our service space, but rather to a part of the buildingwhich is shared and which is under construction work.”

At issue is a “support space” intended “for partners looking for in-person service” and which is “located in that same building, also serving as an extension” of the “support” provided “in the application”. This space “is completely finishedcomplying with all the conditions for its operation”, he assured.

Although the service is “provided exclusively by prior appointment”, there are also, inside, “places available for a brief wait if necessary” – as evidenced by images sent by the company to Polígrafo.

The same person responsible for Bolt concluded: “We have the greater respect by the drivers who work with our partner fleets and who help us improve mobility in cities.”

Given these data, it cannot be said that the images reliably portray the “waiting room” of the Bolt service space in Lisbon. It may be the case that the company’s “partners” who seek in-person assistance sometimes have to wait in a shared area of the building, when they do not make the appropriate appointment, but the lack of contextualization video images may be misleading.
