Two electric buses reinforce the municipal fleet in a more ecological and sustainable option

Two 40-seater buses have reinforced the fleet of electric vehicles in the Municipality of Caminha and are now at the service of the municipality and the community. The two trucks join a minivan and three more cars and a van. This is a serious commitment to more ecological and sustainable vehicles, which is complemented by the installation of Electric Charging Stations (PCE) by the municipality.

There are, in total, seven new vehicles and they reflect a new philosophy in environmental matters and a response to the challenges of sustainability on the part of the Municipality of Caminha. The desire to promote mobility by making a cleaner option, combined with the fact that the municipal fleet is quite old and that an opportunity has arisen in terms of the Environmental Fund, led the Chamber to move forward and carry out the respective application.

The first four electric vehicles arrived at the end of 2022 and immediately became part of the Caminha City Council’s car fleet. There were three cars and a van, hired under an operational lease, which was made possible thanks to the five applications that the Municipality then managed to approve. In 2023, the fifth electric car arrived, a nine-seater minivan, which was part of this first set of new vehicles.

With these two buses, the Municipality’s efforts to protect the Environment increase, as these vehicles emit fewer air pollutants, helping to improve air quality.

The Chamber of Caminha has an intense and regular activity in transport, particularly school transport, operating every day throughout the municipality. The use of Municipal vehicles is also part of the widespread support for various institutions, especially in the area of ​​sport.
