Magda Freitas, a firefighter from the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of Ponte da Barca, left no credit in the hands of others and climbed back onto the podium in a competition between firefighters, this time in the Elite Quebra Costas International Race, which took place on Saturday, in Coimbra.

A source from the corporation told O MINHO that “our Magda Freitas” achieved a “brilliant performance”, with second place in her category and third in the women’s overall competition.

“It would be fair to say that we are starting to lack adjectives to catalog the achievements of our firefighters when it comes to evidence of this kind”, considered the same source.

In 2019, Magda Freita completed the mythical climb up the Bom Jesus stairs in eight minutes and 44 seconds, winning the silver medal in the under-25 category and the title of fourth fastest firefighter in the race and third in Portugal. In 2022 she won gold in the same competition and in 2023 silver in the Elite Firefighter, which took place in Coimbra.

“Many congratulations, our ‘little’ big Magda, and Luís Machado (another firefighter from Ponte da Barca who participated in the race), we are all very proud of you”, he added.
