The Municipality of Albufeira opened another multi-sport facility open to three sports

Since last Friday, the Parish of Ferreiras has had yet another sports facility available to the population, after the inauguration of the redevelopment of the sports center, located next to Bairro 17 de Junho and the Railway station, within the scope of the 2020 Participatory Budget. Repairs were also carried out on the exterior of the sports center and fitness equipment was installed. The intervention involved an investment of 64,117 euros.

The Mayor of Albufeira highlighted that this is yet another piece of equipment, whose improvement works are part of the Municipality’s strategy to become a European City of Sport in 2026.

José Carlos Rolo, spoke of a broader strategy that also includes the requalification works of the Ribeiro sports center, next to the Albufeira Camping Park, (opened on the 4th), the Olhos de Água sports center (opened on the 8) and the sports center at Quinta da Quinta da Palmeira, in Albufeira, which still needs to be opened. Regarding the improvement of the Ferreiras sports center, he made a point of highlighting that the most important thing is to create conditions for the promotion of sports as close as possible to the community. The mayor left an appeal to residents and the Ferreiras Parish Council to be a kind of “caretaker of the space”, so that it remains well looked after and away from vandalism.
