Six people died in southern Spain when a truck rammed cars that were on the side of a motorway during a police checkpointauthorities said.

Two of the fatal victims are guards and three of the seriously injured are also agents.The truck driver, already detained, did not stop at the checkpoint and rammed the vehicles.

The causes of this incident are not yet known. But the first hypothesis put forward by the authoritiesaccording to the Spanish newspaper The world, is that the truck driver fell asleep, not noticing the police barrier.


The driver of the truck, an articulated vehicle, “upon receiving signals from the Civil Guard, maneuvered sharply to the side of the road” and rammed five cars, three of them from this security force.according to a statement from the Civil Guard.Alcohol and drug tests carried out on the truck driver were negative, the Civil Guard said.

The accident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 4:30 am this Tuesday, on the AP-4 motorway, between the city of Seville and Cádiz, in the region of Andalusia, southern Spain.
