The Câmara de Cabeceiras de Basto collected 24 tons of waste from illegal dumpsters in various locations in the municipality.

The initiative, coordinated by the municipal services of the Environment and Health Division (DAS), enabled the collection of waste of multiple characteristics and dimensions, including monos, construction waste, among others.

“This is an action carried out several times during the year and in all parishes, with the aim of intervening in the referenced locations and which are known as those most affected by the clandestine disposal of waste of this nature”, says the municipality, in a statement.

The municipality of Cabeceiras de Basto has a free waste collection service from residents’ homes, simply by requesting it from the Single Customer Service (SAU).

If you want to directly deposit the monos at the Collection Center existing on the premises of the future Municipal Workshops, in Ranha, you can also do so between 08:30 and 13:30, as long as it is previously scheduled at the SAU.

According to current legislation, the abandonment of waste and its discharge in places not licensed to carry out waste treatment are prohibited, constituting a very serious environmental offense and subject to a fine of 20,000 to 37,500 euros, if practiced by natural persons, and from 38,500 to 2,500,000 euros if legal persons.
