As is customary every year, 23 churches and chapels in the city will be open for visits and prayer, on Maundy Thursday, between 8:00 pm and midnight.

As revealed by the Municipal Council of Viana do Castelo, this Tuesday, in a statement, the Santa Luzia Elevator will be free to access that night, and will offer trips between 7:30 pm and 00:15 am, in order to that the Diocesan Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, better known as the Sanctuary of Santa Luzia, is also included in the Religious Route.

  • Church of the Sagrada Familia,
  • Chapel of Our Lady of Agonia,
  • S. Roque Chapel (next to Sr.ª d’Agonia),
  • Chapel of the Carmel of St.ª Teresinha,
  • Chapel of the Diocesan Seminary,
  • Chapel of Our Lady of Candeias (Largo Vasco da Gama),
  • Saint Catherine’s Chapel,
  • Parish Church of Monserrate (Igreja de São Domingos),
  • Chapel of Senhor do Calvário / Chapel of Our Lady of Conceição da Rocha (next to Our Lady of Agonia),
  • Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus – Santa Luzia,
