Oliveira do Hospital expects 50 thousand visitors at the Serra da Estrela Cheese Festival

With four days to go before the start of the Serra da Estrela Cheese Festival, which will take place in Oliveira do Hospital, next weekend, March 23rd and 24th, expectations are that the event will result in a “big fair”.

The five PDO Cheese producers and the entire range of local local products fill the Municipality’s president, José Francisco Rolo, with confidence, who welcomes the investment in the order of 120 thousand euros, to promote quality products and heritage location, boost business and generate wealth, by attracting around 50 thousand visitors.

The status, which has been renewed year after year, as the Biggest Cheese Festival in Portugal, leads the Municipality of Oliveira do Hospital to promote a large organization around the event, which is seen as a “hymn” to tradition but with an important innovation, evident in the two-day program, with a strong cultural component and entertainment for local people and visitors who flock to the municipality. Around 230 exhibitors are expected.

Authenticity is what the municipality has to offer and, therefore, chose the green meadow of the Quinta Dos Lobos pastures to, this afternoon, present the event to the region, the country and neighboring Spain, which will be represented with two cheeses .
