The Portuguese Grand Prix is just around the corner, taking place this weekend and Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) says he is excited to enter the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve with the bike in the North American colors of Trackhouse Racing.

“The Portuguese Grand Prix is the most special moment of the season for me. As a Portuguese driver, racing in my country, in terms of competition, is the greatest of emotions”, confessed the driver from Almada, in statements previewing the Portuguese race provided by the team.

“My goal is to continue improving my feeling on the bike, show good speed and be able to compete for good positions on the track”, concluded the Portuguese.

The sporting director of the North American team, Wilco Zeelenberg, highlighted the importance of this race for the team. “The second round is coming up and it’s Miguel’s home race. It’s a very important race for all of us”, highlighted the Trackhouse coach.

Zeelenberg also said that the team is excited after what they saw in the last race. “We are looking forward to this first European round, especially because we saw in Qatar that we have a good base”, highlighted the Dutchman, who also highlighted Portimão as a unique opportunity for the team to show the bike’s potential: “We will receive a lot of attention with the cameras pointing to Miguel and I think we are prepared for that. We have everything we need to show what we can do”, he concluded.

Raúl Fernández, Miguel Oliveira’s teammate, is also eager to get back on the track: “I can’t wait to get to Portimão! After the problems we had in Qatar, which were quite frustrating for me, I want to be back on the bike”, admitted the Spaniard, who in the first race had electrical problems when starting, which led to him having to change bikes. “I want to show that I’m competitive and I think I can do a good job in Portugal”, concluded the driver from Madrid.

The Portuguese Grand Prix starts this Friday with the first free practice sessions scheduled for 10:45 am.
