If what is said in Parliament (and the way it is said) sometimes seems like theater, then it justifies a stage. Script for a possible countryby Sara Barros Leitão, is based on the transcriptions of the debates that took place in the Assembly of the Republic since 1975 – the speeches, the interventions, the asides, the insubordinations, the gestures – and is, according to the director, also responsible for the dramaturgy, “a impressionist journey through our collective history” and an exercise “about what can be built in common” (statements to the Sapo portal before the play’s premiere in December).

The show, performed by João Melo and Margarida Carvalho, which is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, can be seen at Teatro-Cine de Pombal next Saturday, March 23rd, at 9:30 pm (ticket : 3 euros). Previously, Sara Barros Leitão directs the “Parlatório” mediation workshop on theater, democracy and assemblies in Pombal, which runs until this Friday, March 22nd, and is aimed at young people between 15 and 18 years old and older adults 65 years old.

The final moment of the 2024 edition of the Pombal Theater Festival, however, takes place on Sunday, March 24th, with the show Bewildermentalso at Teatro-Cine de Pombal (ticket: 3 euros) and in partnership with the Festival Música em Leiria, organized by Orfeão de Leiria.

It is not a concert and it is not a play, perhaps both, and its protagonist is the group Ad Libitum, which includes Nuno Pinto (clarinet and refinement), Luís Filipe Santos (clarinet), José Ricardo Freitas (clarinet ), Tiago Abrantes (bass clarinet) and João Tiago Dias (percussion).
