The “Postgraduate Degree in Human Rights and Courts”, lasting 74 hours, consisting of synchronous, non-recorded online sessions, is a course under the exclusive scientific, technical and administrative responsibility of the Ius Gentium Conimbrigae / Human Rights Center (IGC /CDH), based at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra, carried out in collaboration with the Porto Court of Appeal. The course will take place from May 7th to July 12th, 2024, after work hours.

The course, of a theoretical-practical nature, aims to provide specialized training in the area of ​​Human Rights and its relationship with the forensic professions. In the first module, the theme of Human Rights is addressed in a generic and introductory way, followed by the second, composed of some of its different categories. The third module is dedicated to the special protection afforded to certain groups, and the fourth consists of contemporary themes. The last and fifth module focuses on the practical applicability of Human Rights in the context of the administration of justice.

The Faculty is made up of professors, assistants and researchers from various higher education institutions and the IGC/CDH, as well as specialists, professionals and other guests.
The assessment of knowledge, carried out through a written exam or a written investigation (research), according to the auditor’s preference, is optional, and auditors may waive the assessment, as long as the minimum attendance frequency to complete the Course is met, in which case they will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance.

The “Postgraduate Course in Human Rights and Courts” has as scientific coordinators Vital Moreira, José Igreja Matos and Carla de Marcelino Gomes. Jurists, Judicial Magistrates and Public Prosecutors, Lawyers, Solicitors and Enforcement Agents, Investigators and Final Year Students (in the area of ​​Law, but not exclusively) can apply for the course. , as well as others with an interest in the topics.

Exceptionally, and if available vacancies are not filled, non-final year higher education students and also professionals in the areas of Human Rights and Courts may enroll as part of a training course.
