Mafalda Coelho, the Madeiran woman who has been fighting rare breast cancer for almost three years and who started fundraising to receive treatment in Lisbon, has passed away.

The news was announced yesterday through the Facebook page ‘Together for Mafalda’.

“With a lot of chest pain and sadness, the news arrived that no one wanted, our Mafalda’s fight is over today”, can be read in the publication made, which, however, was ‘flooded’ with messages of strength and support for the family of the 25-year-old girl.

Remember that Mafalda Coelho has two children and was diagnosed in June 2021, having since shown courage and bravery in her daily fight against this disease, as reported by JM in its printed edition on November 5th last year.

At the time, Mafalda admitted that it was in her young children, aged 2 and 5, that she found encouragement to continue fighting her cancer. “They are the ones who have given me strength, if it weren’t for them…”, she let out as if to vent. Furthermore, emotional, she also made a point of not letting the support provided to her by her husband go unnoticed. “Always accompany me in everything you can”, she emphasized.
