In a statement sent today to the Lusa agency, ASAE explains that it carried out an inspection operation in two wholesale food preparation and storage establishments, in the districts of Aveiro and Viseu.
This action, within the scope of combating illicit acts against public health, was developed by the Specialized Brigade for Animal Products Industries of the Central Regional Unit and aimed to verify compliance with the conditions for storing and handling foodstuffs.
Following the operation, 7,370 kilograms of food were seized, namely yogurts, cheeses, cold cuts and frozen fish products, which require controlled temperatures.
The total value of the seizure was 61,500 euros.
ASAE also states that the activity was being carried out without the respective mandatory Veterinary Control Number (NCV) authorization, “still finding several foodstuffs without presenting the respective mandatory labeling and without having the identification mark of the last establishment affixed who manipulated them.”
The inspectors also initiated two administrative offense proceedings, “and the suspension of activity of the establishment located in the district of Aveiro was also determined for not having the NCV legally required for activity”.
