Nicolas Spinelli (Tech3 E-Racing) was the winner of the first race of the MotoE Portuguese Grand Prix. The Italian crossed the finish line in first place, beating Hector Garzó (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE) by 148 thousandths, with Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) in third, at 252 thousandths.

The opening race of the electric motorcycle championship was marked by the number of crashes, with seven riders falling to the ground in just seven laps. Eric Granado ‘set the tone’ for the crashes when he was leading, followed by Oscar Gutiérrez, Miquel Pons, Alessio Finello and Matteo Ferrari. Furthermore, Alessandro Zaccone and Jordi Torres also fell, with the Italian taking down the Spaniard when he was following behind him. Of these seven, Ferrari and Finello still completed the race.

Behind the top-3, Lukas Tulovic finished in fourth place, ahead of Kevin Zannoni, with Massimo Roccoli finishing in sixth place. Andrea Mantovani was ranked seventh, ahead of Kevin Manfredi, with Chaz Davies and Armando Pontone completing the top-10.
