The degradation of public space in the municipality of Caminha is once again a topic at the council meeting. The damage caused by the bad weather in January 2023, which has not yet been repaired, and several other situations in Vila Praia de Âncora, Seixas and Lanhelas, were reported by councilor Liliana Silva of the O Concelho em Primeiro Coalition (OCP) last Wednesday, in the period before the order of the day.
Rua 5 de Outubro – Vila Praia de Âncora
Liliana Silva began by alerting the executive to the unevenness of Rua 5 de Outubro in Vila Praia de Âncora, where the road, next to some stores, is damaged. “5, 6 years ago they repaired the carpet, but it ended up there, right in front of that street. When it rains people can’t even get out of the car. Helping traders and businesspeople means giving them decent conditions on public roads. We request urgent repairs”, said the mayor in a post on the social network Facebook.
Collector Rua 5 de Outubro – Vila Praia de Âncora
Still in Vila Praia dencora, Liliana Silva alerted the executive to the collector that drains water from the Sandia area, the Aurélios infiltration basin and part of Rua 5 de Outubro, which is blocked and obsolete. “It does not have the capacity to drain the water and it recedes and then floods stores and garages. It is urgently needed to be repaired,” he said.
Rua 25 de Abril – Vila Praia de Âncora
On Rua 25 de Abril, also in Vila Praia de Âncora, the mayor drew attention to the loose signs of a warehouse, which causes great inconvenience to the residents and neighbors of that building. Liliana Silva warns that there are already signs falling on neighbors’ houses, as can be seen in the image above.
In response to this specific situation, Rui Lages stated that the problem had already been resolved and the plates were no longer loose.
The president’s statements were immediately denied by Liliana Silva, reaffirming that the problem has not been resolved and the plates are still loose, something that he saw with his own eyes on the day of the executive meeting.
Seixas
Regarding Seixas, the opposition councilor drew attention to a meco that was placed in the place of a pole that was cut by the Caminha municipal council, which has been there for a year. On the waterfront, the embankment supporting the train line is fallen “providing a bad image for that location.”
Rui Lages informed that the executive will once again intensify the request with E-Redes to install new poles on a regular basis and, regarding the embankments, the request with Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) will also be reinforced.
Lanhelas
Liliana Silva He also warned about the “chaotic state” of some roads in Lanhelas, as a result of the bad weather in January 2023, and does not understand how some have not yet been repaired after a year and 3 months, remembering that there are sections that are completely impassable.
In response, Rui Lages did not provide any clarification, referring to previous statements at the Municipal Assembly, where he reported on the work that is scheduled and what has been developed to date in terms of repairing damage caused by bad weather.
