The March 2024 Fair is open, which will certainly continue to be “a special moment, of meeting and conviviality, of friends, of families”, in its 588th edition, as emphasized by the Mayor of Aveiro before the inaugural visit.

The centuries-old ‘free fair’, the first on the national calendar, has two particularities in this edition. One of them is to be associated with the “seal” of ‘Aveiro Portuguese Capital of Culture 2024’, being part of the program that continues until December, but also hosting cultural events throughout the month.
Especially symbolic, this year, will be the farewell to the March Fair, on April 25th, as it marks the 50th anniversary of the ‘Carnation Revolution’, therefore deserving a special evocation of the day of the dawn of freedom in Portugal, remembering Ribau Esteves “that we have to take care of it on a daily basis, as it is so important to our lives”.
The mayor highlighted, in addition to everything else that took place at the fairgrounds for a month (commerce, entertainment, restaurants, entertainment), the presence of the local associative movement, as “the strongest expression of active citizenship”, leaving a compliment to the “public service” provided by its leaders. There are 24 groups that will be in charge of a hundred events, most of them to liven up the March Fair.
The March 2024 Fair opened two days early, to take advantage of the weekend, with 210 exhibitors (two dozen more companies present than last year) and 50 amusements (carousels and the like), including here, too, some “ news”, announced the mayor of Aveiro, echoing information transmitted by businesspeople in the sector.
