Benfica and Gdessa Barreiro qualified this Saturday for the final of the Portuguese women’s basketball Cup, after beating Quinta do Lombos and Sportiva, respectively, in semi-final games, played in Torres Novas.

In the first game of the semi-finals, the Reds started badly, allowing Quinta dos Lombos, holder of the trophy, to win the first period (13-11).

But then, Benfica’s reaction was too strong for the Carcavelos team, guaranteeing a turnaround in the middle of the game (36-35), a trend that continued in the other two partials, especially the final one (16-12 and 14). -5), until the final victory by 66-52.

Letícia Soares, with 20 points, and Isabela Quevedo, with 10, led the Reds, while Inês Faustino, with 17, and Mariana Carvalho, with 14, were the players who stood out most at Quinta dos Lombos.

In the second semi-final there was more balance, with Gdessa starting well with a 13-7 partial, to which Sportiva responded with a 12-8, setting the result at half-time at 21-19 for Barreiro’s team.

The third period confirmed the balance of forces (19-19), resolved by Gdessa in their favor in the last quarter with a 20-17 partial, which guaranteed André Martins’ team a 60-55 victory and the consequent qualification for the Final.

Milica Ivanovic, with 17 points, was the top scorer among the Barreirenses, who also had Maianca Umabano (12) and Magdalena Szajtauer (10) scoring around ten points. But the game’s top scorer was from Sportiva: Luana Serrano, with 20 points.

The final between Benfica and Gdessa is scheduled for 5pm on Sunday, at the Torres Novas Sports Pavilion, which has already hosted the two semi-finals today.
