Dozens of people participated yesterday in various activities promoted by the Gualtar Youth Association and the JovemCoop Association, in partnership with the S. Victor Parish Council, the Braga City Council and AGERE, in Sete Fontes. The activities marked World Water Day (22 March).
Miguel Soares, president of the Gualtar Youth Association, explained that the activities have attracted the interest of more and more people.
“Whenever we ask people who are visiting for the first time, we see around 70 to 80 percent of people saying they don’t know about the city’s future park. For us, it is gratifying to be able to show what is great about the city of Braga and what many people are unaware of”, said Miguel Soares.
Visitors include people of various age groups.
Mário Meireles, representing the Parish Council of S. Victor, also reported on the increase in demand for space by the population.
“We noticed a lot of turnout after the work that has been done to promote the place. All this dynamic is important to bring more people to the park”, said Mário Meireles.
One of the points of the program was the meeting ‘Historical Contextualization of the Complexo Eco Monumental das Sete Fontes’, with the president of the Board of Directors of AGERE.
Rui Morais alerted those present to the importance of saving and protecting water.
“Water is a commodity that can be scarce. These actions remind us that there are places where water is already scarce and in the future these problems may also affect us. These initiatives are important to enlighten people. It is important that associations create the conditions for a more interventionist and attentive society”, highlighted Rui Morais.
Visitors were able to enjoy Yoga classes, Theater School, student tuna performances, guided tours, Pilates classes and the identification of various species of animals and plants.
This is the sixth year that the Gualtar Youth Association has carried out visits to the Sete Fontes eco-monumental park.
The activity also marked 25 years since the creation of the Gualtar Youth Association.
