The attacker is 68 years old and is already in pre-trial detention
Bernardo Pereira, 24 years old, was killed on Friday, in the late afternoon, with eight stab wounds from his 68-year-old neighbor, after the young man allegedly entered the defendant’s home.
The first version, put forward by the defendant to the authorities, reported an alleged debt related to the sale of a sofa but, later, the sixty-year-old changed his speech, about the reasons for the crime, to say that the conflict is after all related to the position of the sofa, between their homes, on Rua Ferrer Trindade, in Fernão Ferro, municipality of Seixal.
CNN Portugal knows that the young man was already known to local authorities.
The victim and attacker had a long history of disagreements that led the sixty-year-old to formalize several complaints against Bernardo Pereira, in the GNR, in the recent past.
The alert to the crime was given at around 6:40 pm, on Friday, by the young man’s girlfriend who, when help arrived, was in cardiorespiratory arrest, inside the neighbor’s house where he was eventually declared dead.
The Setúbal Judicial Police continues to investigate the case. The suspect, aged 68, has already been brought before a judge and is in pre-trial detention.
