In IPMA terminology, the yellow warning is the second least serious on a scale of four and means “a risk situation for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation”.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) placed 15 districts of mainland Portugal and Madeira under yellow warning due to forecasts of snowfall, strong rain or wind and sea disturbances.

Snowfall warnings are valid until Tuesday for the districts of Aveiro, Castelo Branco, Bragança, Coimbra, Viseu, Braga, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo and Leiria.

Warnings of sea disturbances and strong winds are valid for Tuesday in the districts of Aveiro, Coimbra, Braga, Porto, Faro, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria and Beja.

In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the warning of rain, sometimes heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms, is valid until 12:00 today in mountainous areas and on the North and South coasts.

The warning of maritime unrest in the archipelago is valid for Tuesday on the North Coast and on the island of Porto Santo.
