The man who lost his life following a tragic road accident that occurred this Sunday afternoon, on the A7 motorway, in Celorico de Basto, was from the village of Petimão, in Alvite, Cabeceiras de Basto.

Carlos Lima, 38 years old, was driving his vehicle in the direction of Fafe-Arco de Baúlhe when, for reasons that have not yet been determined, he crashed, ending up traveling hundreds of meters in that condition until he fell from a height of several tens of meters from the bridge deck in the Gandarela area.

The vehicle also slipped from a national road into an open field further down, causing the immediate death of the young man who studied at the São Miguel de Refóios day school, also in Cabeceiras de Basto. He was linked to the Águias de Alvite club.

According to a source from the Tâmega e Sousa sub-regional command, the bridge from which the vehicle fell is around 120 meters high.
