The senior community of Viseu will once again have the opportunity to get to know or revisit the municipality where they live from this Tuesday (March 26th). The “Viseu, Senhora da Beira” initiative returns for the second edition with a trip for elderly people from Viseu, Coutos de Viseu and Repeses and S. Salvador to the parish of Cavernães.

According to the local Chamber, which organizes the project, it wants to encourage seniors in the municipality of Viseu to “rediscover the territory of Viseu and participate in a pleasant interaction between parishes”.

But, before visiting Cavernães, the elderly participants will be taken to the historic center of the city, bringing all the limits of the municipality closer to the heart of Viseu and sharing experiences and gastronomic traditions.

Starting at Rua Formosa, the walk follows Rua do Comércio, Rua Augusto Hilário, Rua Direita, Rua do Gonçalinho and Rua Simões Dias, ending at the Church of São Miguel do Fetal. The Viseu Sul wastewater treatment plant and the Quartzo Museum are also part of the visit itinerary scheduled for tomorrow.

The initiative – launched last year – will extend to the remaining parishes in the municipality of Viseu, over the next few months.

This is a project that is free to participate in, but requires registration with the parish councils in your area of residence.
