Two drunk drivers were arrested, in the early hours of Saturday, as part of a police operation, with a view to detecting risk groups, who usually frequent streets and drinking establishments, in the center of the city of Caldas da Rainha.
According to the Leiria District Command of the PSP, the police action had the dual objective of “preventing crime and increasing the feeling of security, as well as responding firmly to a series of episodes of violence associated with the nighttime context, which occasionally , but over the last few months, they have been registered.”
During the aforementioned operation, five doses of cocaine were detected, hidden in a space inside a nightlife establishment and several administrative offense reports were raised for road traffic offences.
The PSP also adds that seven infractions were recorded under the General Noise Law and Municipal Regulations, as well as the legal regime for access and exercise of commerce, services and catering activities.
The operation involved the commitment of several areas, such as traffic, patrol, rapid intervention, criminal investigation and police supervision, as well as the support of a team from the Food and Economic Security Authority.
“With this police operation, the Leiria District Command believes it has reinforced the public tranquility of the resident community and which it protects daily”, adds the PSP statement.
