Enterro da Gata Wednesday 2024 filled with Quim Barreiros and Academic Parade

This announcement was already expected by students, seen as a tradition.

It was announced yesterday, Monday, that on May 8th the academic procession will take place through the streets of Braga. The Academic Association of the University of Minho (AAUMinho) also announced that, on the same date, Quim Barreiros will take the stage at the Monumental Festas do Enterro da Gata 2024.

The news of Quim Barreiros’ presence at the event was received by the students without surprise, but with joy. With his accordion and his popular songs among all ages, such as “A Cabritinha” and “Mestre da Culinária”, he will certainly entertain the audience.

The procession is one of the main academic traditions where Minho students come together to celebrate the end of another academic year, which for many also means a farewell and the end of a cycle. All Minho academy courses are present, forming a long parade of trucks. On Avenida Central, freshmen give presentations that usually follow the theme of the event.

This is usually one of the happiest and most nostalgic days for students. The week of Enterro da Gata 2024 takes place between the 3rd and 10th of May and some tickets are now available for sale on the Ticketline website.
