The Municipal Museum promotes, on March 30th, at 10:30 am, a guided tour of the exhibition “Balsa, Roman City”, under the guidance of archaeologist Celso Candeias (Municipality of Tavira).

On view at Palácio da Galeria, the exhibition provides a journey of 2000 years, to the time when the city flourished, next to the banks of the Ria Formosa, which became the capital of a Roman municipality.

Throughout 10 rooms, and with around 100 pieces from various national museums, the visitor “gets to know various aspects linked to the origin and evolution of that city, as well as its main economic activities, eating habits and the daily lives of its inhabitants inhabitants”, says a note from the Tavira Chamber.

There will also be the opportunity to learn about the names of some Balsa citizens and their professional positions, their concerns about health, beauty and religion or the funeral rituals practiced by some of them at the time of the death of their loved ones, whose names, engraved in stones , remained eternal to this day.
