National Team performed perfect Elite Round. Geovany Quenda scored twice

Portugal beat Germany 3-1 and confirmed their qualification for the under-17 European Championship, after also beating Ireland and Croatia.

In a first half in which they were superior, João Santos’ men took the lead in the 42nd minute, with Geovany Quenda responding in the best way to a pass from Rodrigo Mora.

The Germans improved at the beginning of the 2nd half and Denis Husser tied the match (49′), taking advantage of an incomplete save by Diogo Ferreira.

The Portuguese experienced many difficulties until the 75th minute, when they gained new life and took the lead again thanks to a shot from close range by João Trovisco (78′).

Five minutes later, Quenda provided a moment of magic with a direct free kick (83′). Sporting’s favorite was the best player on the field.

To close the match, Husser (90′) still scared the Portuguese team, but his presence in the 2024 Under-17 European Championship, which will take place in Cyprus from May 20th to June 5th, was already confirmed.

Team Quinas, winner of the European Championship at this level in 2003 and 2016, will be in its fifth consecutive edition.
