Lenten renunciation from the Diocese of Lisbon goes towards accommodation for young people in Lisbon and an orphanage in Mozambique

The Lenten Renunciation of the Patriarchate of Lisbon can be made by bank transfer and, this year, the amount raised is intended to build accommodation for young people in Lisbon and support the work of an orphanage in Mozambique.

The destination of the Lenten Renunciation of 2024 was announced by the Patriarch of Lisbon, D. Rui Valério, in his Message for Lent.

“We propose that, in this year 2024, the fruit of our resignation has a double purpose: supporting the works at the Casa Priest of the Patriarchate of Lisbon to build accommodation for young people; and support works at the School-Orphanage of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Chambery, in the Diocese of Pemba, in the city of Mocímba da Praia and Cabo Delgado, in Mozambique, to welcome vulnerable children and young people, victims of war, and open holes to capture water and, in this way, resolve the consumption of poisoned water”, wrote D. Rui Valério.

Remember that Lenten Renunciation is a practice during Lent (the liturgical time of preparation for Easter), in which the faithful give up purchasing goods or services, reserving this money for purposes that are specified by the bishop of their diocese.

You can make a bank transfer using IBAN: PT50 0018 000038658719001 38.
