Braga takes on the role of leader of the project to create an international talent hub. An orientation session on the “Talent Cities” project took place this Monday with the presence of Ricardo Rio, president of the City Council. The initiative was promoted by the Municipality and Startup Braga.

Braga is leading this two-year global initiative, which consists of creating an International Talent Hub that brings together different smart cities on the planet. The project aims to increase the capacity of city policymakers to ensure the creation and capture of talent.

As Ricardo Rio highlighted, “cities need to have active policies to promote and retain talent, with the participation of public authorities, educators, employers, entrepreneurs, social agencies, research and innovation hubs in this process being essential”.

“Cities are currently the main agents of change and innovation in countries and regions, collectively generating 85% of global GDP. For our part, we want to boost Braga’s economic fabric and all the talent that exists here. The more you learn, the more skills you acquire, the more experience you have and the greater the value in the economy of innovation for cities”, said the mayor, adding that “a smart talent center requires the participation of cities from many areas of the world , so several interested cities from America, the European Union, the Middle East and Australia are being invited”.

The mayor said that on May 22nd, during Economy Week, an event will be organized to involve local agents and international guests in this project.

The session was also attended by the director of Startup Braga, Luis Rodrigues, and Gerri Burton, responsible for the Talent Cities project.
