Rain, wind and snow leave Portugal under yellow warning

-

The entire continent is under yellow warning this Wednesday due to the forecast of rain, strong winds and snow in the highlands.

For this Wednesday, very cloudy skies and periods of rain or showers are expected, which can be strong and persistent, especially between mid-morning and late afternoon. There is also the possibility of thunderstorms.

Temperatures will rise during the day.

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere, the entire coast of mainland Portugal is also under orange warning due to sea unrest, with waves expected to reach 12 meters in height.

As for the archipelagos, the Azores were placed under yellow warning this Wednesday due to wind and sea disturbances.

In Flores and Corvo, the weather is expected to worsen during the day on Thursday.

In Madeira, there is also a yellow warning in the north of the coast and in Porto Santo.

Depression Nelson brings rain, thunderstorms and snow on Easter

Depression Nelson will bring rain, thunderstorms, wind and snow until Easter Sunday, reports the IPMA. If you expected the long weekend to be synonymous with sunny days, you will be disappointed.

The Nelson depression, which extends from Iceland to the Madeira region, brings with it “persistent precipitation, sometimes strong and accompanied by thunderstorms” and, at least, until Sunday.

At the highest points, snowfall is expected and, according to IPMA, it may occur – in some periods – below 1000 meters of altitude.
