Vouzela Chamber invests 2.6 million euros in the purchase of 21 housing units

Vouzela City Council wants to invest around 2.6 million euros in the purchase of 21 housing units that will be built by contractors on local authority land, as part of the “1st Right” program.

The public offer for the acquisition of properties was published in the Diário da República on Tuesday (March 26), with contractors having 30 days to submit proposals.

“What we are telling the market is that we have land owned by the City Council that has the potential to build on almost four thousand square meters. We guarantee that we acquired 21 homes, but if they want to build 30 or 35 they can do so”, explained the vice-president of Vouzela Chamber, Carlos Oliveira, to the Lusa agency.

According to the mayor, the Chamber guarantees the purchase of 21 housing units (three T1, nine T2 and nine T3) for a maximum value of 2,658,750 euros and the contractors will have to put the rest up for sale on the market.

The investment of 2,658,750 euros will follow a collaboration agreement signed between the municipality and the Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation, within the scope of the Local Housing Strategy and the “1st Right” (Access Support Program to Housing of the Recovery and Resilience Plan).

The three criteria used to choose the best proposal will be the largest number of homes to be built and the lowest price and construction time.

“We prioritize speed in construction to provide people with more dignified housing in the shortest possible time,” explained Carlos Oliveira, pointing out that it is ideal to have the homes ready within “one year, at most two”.

The acquisition of 21 homes is just one of the modalities foreseen in the Vouzela Local Housing Strategy.

Carlos Oliveira estimated that, in the coming years, the municipality will have more than one hundred homes available.
