AMARES – Moreira guarantees that there are two hypermarkets in the pipeline for Amares but only with the new PDM

The Mayor of Amares, Manuel Moreira, said this Wednesday that there are “two large” commercial areas interested in setting up shop in the municipality, but that both projects will only move forward after the review of the Municipal Master Plan (PDM) has been completed. .

At this Wednesday’s council executive meeting, PS councilor Valéria Silva questioned the mayor about a project for the construction of an ALDI chain store, asking for an overview of the process.

In response, Manuel Moreira said that this project in question “failed”, since there was no agreement between the investor and the owner of the land, located next to the D. Gualdim Pais School Center.

“The PIP [Pedido de Informação Prévia] It had a one-year deadline, so it fell through. Which doesn’t mean that the company won’t be back in business in some time. In addition, we have two other processes to move forward”, said the mayor.

At stake, according to Moreira, are investments by the Continentes and Pingo Doce chains, both in Ferreiros. “Only after the PDM is approved can they be implemented”, he highlighted.

To the newspaper “O Amarense”, the mayor said that the review of the Municipal Master Plan is in its final phase. “I hope we can approve it, in the worst case scenario, in September this year”, guaranteed Manuel Moreira.
