Tax authorities warn of email scam: Beware of false promises of refund

A AT is warning taxpayers about a new email scamwhere individuals impersonating the tax authority, offer fictitious refunds.

You Fraudulent emails inform recipients of a supposed right to a refund of 250 eurosask them to click a link to fill out a form.

However, AT says that these messages are false and dangerous, designed to direct taxpayers to malicious web pages. The tax authority reinforces that under no circumstances should recipients click on the links provided in these emails.

This alert reiterates the importance of taxpayers’ vigilance regarding suspicious communications, especially those requesting personal or financial information.

AT recommends that any suspicious email be ignored and reported to the relevant authorities to avoid becoming a victim of online fraud.
