The Terras & Terroir group, owned by businessmen Álvaro Lopes, Maria do Céu Gonçalves and Paulo Pereira, now enters the Trás-os-Montes wine region with the acquisition of the wine brand from Valpaços, a municipality where the group already owns Olive Nature Hotel & Spa.

After purchasing Quinta da Pacheca (Lamego) in 2012, paying around seven million euros to the Serpa Pimentel family, Quinta de São José do Barrilário (Armamar) in 2017 – both in the Doutro region -, the Caminhos Cruzados property ( Nelas) in Dão in 2020 and Quinta do Ortigão in Anadia (Bairrada), and the Alentejo Herdade da Rocha (in 2022) and Ribafreixo Wines (in 2023, in Vidigueira), the Terras & Terroir group now enters the Trás wine region -os-Montes with the acquisition of the Valle de Passos brand.

The new brand in the Terras & Terroir portfolio is located in Valpaços, a municipality where the group already has a hotel unit, the Olive Nature Hotel & Spa, inspired by another endogenous product from Trás-os-Montes, such as olive oil.

“The region of Trás-os-Montes is the sensational region in the way it has been making quality wines. It is one of the most recent designations of origin, but the wine culture is ancient”, emphasizes the administration of the group owned by businessmen Álvaro Lopes , Maria do Céu Gonçalves and Paulo Pereira, in a statement.

“It is this story that we want to carry and which is in line with the spirit of creation of this economic group, of valuing and preserving the best that is done in each of the wine regions”, emphasize Paulo Pereira and the couple Maria do Céu Gonçalves and Álvaro Lopes, who admit to investing in other wine regions, having already “signaled the Vinho Verde and Algarve regions as having great growth potential”.

The Valle de Passos brand has references for red, white and rosé wines, with Francisco Gonçalves heading its winemaking project.

“The brand’s wines have a strong export aspect, being present in markets as different as the United States of America, Canada, Brazil, or traditional European markets”, highlights the Terras & Terroir group, without revealing the value of the acquisition of Valle of Steps nor activity indicators.

In Douro, in addition to Quinta da Pacheca, the group also owns two other tourist projects in this region – the Vila Marim Country Houses, in Mesão Frio, and the Folgosa Douro Hotel, in Armamar.
