The Cape Verdean Paralympic Committee (Copac) praised the achievement of the athletes, highlighting “the incredible successes achieved by the Paralympic athletes from Cape Verde, Heidilene de Oliveira and her guide Jailson Oliveira and the athlete Marilson Semedo, with her coach Paulo Tavares, in recent athletics competitions held at the Grand Prix Morocco”.

“These achievements are a testament to the talent, determination and unwavering spirit of our athletes, who are preparing for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Heidilene de Oliveira, a blind athlete, shone in the 100 and 200 meter athletics events, winning two gold medals”, he revealed.

Her impressive speed, strength and technique made her an unstoppable force on the track, explained Copac, highlighting that “Heidilene is a remarkable example of overcoming, showing the world that limitations are just a word and that with dedication and effort, we can achieve great things.”

Marilson Semedo, highlighted Copac, with lower leg amputation, also left his mark at the Grand Prix Morocco, bringing home two bronze medals in the javelin and discus throws, which is why he highlighted that “his exceptional skill, precision and determination tirelessly took him to the podium, proudly representing our country.

“Marilson is an example of perseverance and courage, and his achievements are a true testament to the power of hard work and dedication. These victories fill us with joy and inspiration, not just as spectators, but as citizens of Cape Verde. Heidilene de Oliveira and Marilson Semedo are true ambassadors of our Paralympic sport, showing the world the talent and determination that exists in our country,” she writes.
