This Thursday, March 28th, bad weather caused trees to fall in the municipality of Marco de Canaveses.

According to information gathered from the municipal coordinator of Marco de Canaveses Civil Protection, Bruno Monteiro, one of the incidents took place on Rua da Sortelha, in the parish of Constance. “A large tree fell on three cars, with no casualties reported, just material damage”, he stressed. Marco de Canaveses Volunteer Firefighters were called to the scene.

In the parish of Santo Isidoro and Livração, a large tree fell at Escola EB 1 da Livração, with no injuries reported either. Forest sappers were mobilized to the site, under guidance from the Environment and Urban Services Division (DASU) of the Marco de Canaveses Municipal Council.

The municipal coordinator leaves the warning: “Leave the house for strictly necessary activities, avoiding all other activities; attention, on the part of drivers, regarding road and weather conditions; avoid passing or stopping in wooded areas; don’t risk crossing flooded areas”adding that “all actions described are an individual responsibility”.
