Action opened its third store in Portugal in Entroncamento

Three stores have already opened in less than a month.

After much anticipation, it was on February 29th that the Actionthe fastest growing non-food discounter in Europe, opened its first store in Portugal, with a space in Focus Park, in Vila Nova de Gaia. And as expected, this was just one of many Action stores that will appear in the country.

For example, Action’s second store in Portugal was opened on March 14th, in this case in Mondego Retail Park, in Taveiro, in the district of Coimbra. The brand’s third store in Portugal was opened today, March 28th, in Entroncamento, at nº91 Rua da Caridade, where a Mini price.

This new space has an area of ​​1,091 m2, making it a large store, and is easily accessible. Furthermore, there is a large parking lot, inviting those who live further away to stop by. This is also the first store in the Santarém district, and is open daily from 9am to 9pm. It should also be noted that Acton Entroncamento created 19 new jobs.

All Action stores follow a common formula. The size of the spaces is always around 1000 m2 or a little more than that; the existing stock (around 6000 products) is divided into 14 different categories, including multimedia, home and garden products, cleaning, hygiene or toys; one third of the stock is fixed (does not change), and the remaining two thirds are changed frequently. They want to present customers with “price and surprise”, said Bart several times. Of the products presented in the aisles of thousands of European Action, 17% are own brands, with only one product with the name “Action”, launched in the first months of the chain’s existence. Customers can also find several products originating in Portugal, including a helium tank that has been a success throughout Europe, a fact that surprised the regional director.

How does Action guarantee such low prices?

It all started with a small store in 1993 in Enkhuizen, in the Netherlands, and quickly evolved into this huge low-cost non-food retailer. But to guarantee these affordable prices for everyone, Action buys in large quantities at once, which means you pay less. And it is efficient in the way it buys, transports – two Action trucks are equivalent to 3.2 of normal trucks, which also allows it to use less fuel –, stores and sells its assortment – ​​the stores have a practically the same assortment in all countries.

Basically, the idea is to be an appealing concept for everyone, both for those who have a tight wallet and for those who simply like to pay the lowest price for their products.

Furthermore, Action reduces investment in marketing and advertising to a minimum. And if you notice, there is no music in the stores – avoiding the purchase of a sound system and licenses. All these points allow for the reduced prices they apply, promising the constant existence of around 1500 products at less than 1€.
