Sea trips between the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo scheduled for Friday and Saturday were canceled due to forecast weather conditions, the company responsible for the connection announced today.

In information published on its official page, Porto Santo Line indicates that the decision is justified by the passage of the Nelson depression and “considering the various warnings from the authorities, a situation that could jeopardize the safety” of passengers and the ship. On Friday and Saturday, the Lobo Marinho, which connects the two islands, should make trips at 08:00 (Madeira – Porto Santo) and 18:00 (Porto Santo – Madeira).

On Wednesday night, weather conditions also forced the cancellation of scheduled calls. The company highlights that today’s trips, at 7pm (Madeira – Porto Santo) and 10:30pm (Porto Santo – Madeira) will take place as scheduled, as will the four connections scheduled for Sunday (8am and 4:30pm towards Porto Santo – Funchal and at 1pm and 8pm in the opposite direction).

The north coast of Madeira and Porto Santo are under orange warning, the second most serious on a scale of three, for maritime unrest, until 12pm on Saturday, then changing to yellow until 6am on Sunday.

For the south coast of Madeira, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) issued a yellow warning until the end of Saturday. The IPMA also issued warnings for wind and precipitation for most of the archipelago.
