The oldest Bullring in Portugal, in Abiul, will host on the 3rd, 4th and 14th of August, three bullfights as part of the Festas do Bodo, which will be organized by the Abiul Parish Council for another year.
Under the design of Tradition and Art, the Abiulense bullfighting arena will host top figures in the world’s bullfighting industry, who promise thrilling shows, to the taste of aficionados.
The Abiul Bullfighting Fair will have its first show at 10 pm on Saturday, August 3rd.
To deal with António Charrua’s bulls, the riders, Marcos Bastinhas, Miguel Moura and Duarte Fernandes, will be in the square. The handles are handled by Forcados Amateurs of Santarém and Forcados Amateurs of Turlock.

The traditional mixed race, which this year will take place at 5 pm on Sunday, August 4, will feature riders Filipe Gonçalves and Luís Rouxinol Jr. and the matador António Ferrera. Bulls from Falé Filipe will be handled.

“The return of the matador António Ferrera to Abiul is already one of the reasons for the greatest interest in this race, to which must be added the presence of Filipe Gonçalves and Luís Rouxinol Jr., two of the riders most cherished by Abiulense aficionados”. “We cannot fail to highlight the presence of the Forcados Académicos de Coimbra, which last year carried out a great performance in Abiul, as well as the Falé Filipe livestock farm”.
The traditional night race on August 14th, a race traditionally with great expectations, will this year have the presence of the riders, Rui Fernandes, Manuel Telles Bastos and Francisco Palha.
Bulls from Fernandes de Castro will be handled, and the handlers will be Forcados do Aposento da Chamusca and Amadores de Alcochete.
