President Frederico Varandas present at the ceremony

Sporting’s squad ‘delivered’ the Portuguese Cup this Thursday conquered last Sunday in Viana do Castelo to the Sporting Museum, in a ceremony attended by president Frederico Varandas and Miguel Afonso, member of the Leonine board of directors responsible for the sports.

“At the beginning of the season, with the entire squad complete, we paid a visit and defined it as a priority for this season to return here with a contribution and humbly add another competition. It’s an exceptional feeling and a duty accomplished. Whoever is at Sporting takes a risk that’s right”, said coach João Coelho, on the lions’ website, anticipating the start of the national title playoff, where they will face Leixões in the semi-finals.

“We really want to reach the final, one step at a time. The team is working well, they are not ‘on cloud nine’ and there is an opponent to respect, Leixões SC. We want to approach the semi-final to win convincingly”, stressed the coach.
