Last Thursday, March 21st, Escola Básica da Charneca was the stage for a special event. The school came together to raise the newest Eco-Escolas flag, together with the various entities that are part of the Eco-Escolas council. To liven up and beautify this moment, singer Miguel Oliveira was present to sing during the celebration. All the children were very excited about the event and participated actively. They sang two songs associated with the books of writer Elisabete Pereira: the most recent “Redutor, Reutilizar, Reciclar” and the best known to the students “Jacaré Barnabé”.

During the ceremony there were some thank you speeches, where the school coordinator mentioned the importance of the existence of the flag and the preservation of the environment. When raising the flag, children and adults sang and danced, having lots of fun. When the flag reached the top there was a moment of celebration, until, with the strong wind, it opened. At the end of the ceremony, the singer gave an autograph session. Everyone loved this spectacular and fun day. Children want more days like this.

These moments are an opportunity to raise awareness among young people about taking care of the environment and taking home what they learn at their Eco-School.
