After the Procession of Burrinha and Ecce Homo, the Procession of the Burial of the Lord was also cancelled, as announced today by the organization.

“Taking into account the weather conditions for the time at which the Procession takes place, the Lent and Solemnities of Holy Week Committee in Braga considers it appropriate to cancel tonight’s Procession of the Burial of the Lord. Regretting the situation, it appeals for understanding of the population, wishing everyone a Happy Easter”, published Semana Santa de Braga on the social network Facebook.

According to the organization’s website, this procession is described as the most solemn and moving, as it carries the bier of the dead Lord through the streets of the city. It is preceded by an altar with a naked cross and followed by that of the Lady of Sorrows. He is accompanied by those and other brotherhoods, knights of the Sovereign Orders of Malta and of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem, Capitulars of the See, various corporations and authorities. As a sign of mourning, the Chapter members and members of the Brotherhoods wear their heads covered. To show their pain, the allegorical figures wear a mourning veil. The rattles of the farricocos are silent. Flags and banners, with mourning stripes, drag across the ground.
